  • 200g sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 120g unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large oranges (zest and juice)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 100ml whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water (optional)
  • 150g powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in orange zest, juice, and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; gradually fold into the wet mixture.
  6. Stir in whole milk and optional orange blossom water until smooth.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool briefly in the pan before transferring to a wire rack. Drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with fresh orange juice.
