  • 1 pound challah bread (sliced)
  • 1 ½ cups dark brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 ½ cups whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup corn syrup
  • Vanilla extract
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, whole milk, and salt. Bring to a boil while stirring constantly; remove from heat and pour into the prepared dish.
  3. Layer sliced challah over the syrup in the dish.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined. Slowly pour this mixture over the bread slices.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight (at least 8 hours).
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake covered for 40 minutes; remove foil and sprinkle with a cinnamon-sugar mixture. Bake uncovered for an additional 40 minutes or until golden brown.
