  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 apple (peeled and diced into small chunks)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×9 baking pan with nonstick spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon for the crumb topping. Cut in cold butter until clumpy.
  3. In another bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk vegetable oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, egg white, and vanilla together.
  4. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients gently; fold in diced apples and walnuts.
  5. Spread batter in the prepared pan and top with crumb mixture.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until edges are golden brown; cool slightly before glazing.
  7. For the glaze, whisk melted butter with sugars, milk, vanilla, and salt; drizzle over cooled cake.
