- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Gel food coloring (for decoration)
- Optional: 2 tablespoons pastel sprinkles
- Preheat your oven to 225°F (107°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean mixing bowl, beat egg whites on medium speed until foamy. Add cream of tartar.
- Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating on high speed until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold in vanilla extract without deflating the mixture.
- If using multiple colors, divide meringue into bowls and mix in gel food coloring.
- Transfer meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe small swirls onto the baking sheet.
- Sprinkle optional pastel sprinkles on top of each swirl.
- Bake for 60 minutes; then turn off the oven and let cookies sit inside for another hour to dry completely.
