  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring (for decoration)
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons pastel sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 225°F (107°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, beat egg whites on medium speed until foamy. Add cream of tartar.
  3. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating on high speed until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold in vanilla extract without deflating the mixture.
  5. If using multiple colors, divide meringue into bowls and mix in gel food coloring.
  6. Transfer meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe small swirls onto the baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle optional pastel sprinkles on top of each swirl.
  8. Bake for 60 minutes; then turn off the oven and let cookies sit inside for another hour to dry completely.
  9. Once cooled, carefully remove from parchment paper and serve.
