Ingredients

Scale
  • 530g (4 ¼ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant or active dry yeast
  • 50g (¼ cup) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 240g (1 cup) whole milk
  • 85g (6 tbsp) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 300g (10.5oz) blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 50g (¼ cup) granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 1 ½ tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp lemon zest
  • ¾ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt (for filling)
  • 113g (4 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 30g (2 tbsp) unsalted butter, softened
  • 180g (1 ½ cups) confectioners’ sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract or paste
  • Pinch of salt (for frosting)
  • 2 tbsp blueberry filling (reserved)

Instructions

  1. Warm milk to 95–104°F and mix with yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes if using active dry yeast.
  2. Add flour, salt, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead in butter gradually until smooth and elastic. This should take about 10 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl.
  5. Cover it with a cloth and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours or until it has doubled in size.
  6. In a saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, zest, cinnamon, salt, and cornstarch.
  7. Cook over medium heat until thickened to a jammy consistency—about 5 minutes.
  8. Set aside to cool completely.
  9. Roll out the dough into a rectangle measuring approximately 12×16 inches.
  10. Spread the cooled blueberry filling on top, reserving 2 tablespoons for frosting later.
  11. Roll into a log shape and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  12. Arrange the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  13. Cover again and let them rise until puffy—about 30–45 minutes.
  14. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  15. Bake for 25–28 minutes until golden brown on top; tent with foil if they brown too quickly.
  16. Beat cream cheese and butter together until creamy.
  17. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar along with vanilla extract and salt; mix until smooth.
  18. Swirl in reserved blueberry filling for added flavor.
  19. Allow rolls to cool for about 15–20 minutes before frosting them generously.
  20. Serve warm for an unforgettable treat!
